What Buyers Should Check Before Using Woven Interlining in Bulk

Woven Fusible Interlining

Before approving woven interlining for bulk production, buyers should check how the material behaves under the conditions it will actually experience. A specification can describe the material, but it cannot replace a sample test using the intended production process.

Dimensional stability should be one of the main checks. Buyers should consider the interlining’s fabric construction, composition, GSM and the conditions it will encounter. Heat from fusing, pressing or steaming, along with moisture from relevant processes, can affect dimensional behaviour. Washing and finishing methods should also be considered where they form part of the garment process.

Outer fabric compatibility is another important check. The fibre, weave and stretch of the outer fabric can affect how the fused pair behaves. Buyers should therefore test the interlining with the actual outer fabric where possible. Garment construction also needs consideration because panel size, fusing direction and seam placement can affect how dimensional changes appear.

Before bulk production, take a representative sample and record its original measurements. Then compare the result with the garment’s dimensional requirements and inspect the fused pair for rippling, puckering or distortion. Buyers should also consider whether the batch, supplier, material specification, outer fabric or finishing method has changed. These checks help ensure that the selected woven interlining is evaluated according to the actual production conditions rather than assumptions based only on its specification.
